Cosmic Christmas Conflict
In the cosmic scheme of things the incarnation was a collision between two worlds - two ideas - time and eternity - the divine and human perspective. God was "in Christ" reconciling the world to Himself; but that reconciliation was not a surrender on His part, but rather a demand for the unconditional surrender of a world who because of sin had found itself in moral rebellion against God. It was not a thing that intially brought peace to the human soul - rather a dilemma, a need for decision and action. Mankind was in open conflict, rebellion if you like, over and against the Great and Sovereign "God of the angel armies." The "peace" on earth part will come later, after He has put everything under his feet and within His command. What a glorious day THAT DAY will be! But until then, like the Jewish people waited for Messiah, we also wait, as Isiah said, "in hopeful anticipation for the arrival of something good."
