Faithful and Obedient

This may sound strange to some, but at this stage of my life I seem to be getting only "one" constant message from my Master Jesus. It comes in scripture. sermons I hear from others and even in the old hymns of the church such as "Trust and Obey" - Chorus: "trust and obey for there's no other way to be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey."

Be faithful and remain obedient is the constant word I get from the Master. One would think that as we age this would be easier for those of us who have served Him for a long time. But truth be known, every stage of life has its challenges and this one is no different. Faithful, remain at the place to which He has called and placed you. Obedient, keep listening and follow His commands.

At times it is difficult to remain faithful especially when we wonder about the future and what's coming next. But the Scripture is clear that "today" is only time period we have been given and we must use the time prudently and wisely. And obedience? How about when it is hard to understand the "why" of His requests and we get no particular reason, just instructions and the expectation of our compliance? If you need a Biblical example how about the conquest of Jericho by Joshua and the Israelites? God's instructions about marching round the city for six days in total silence had to have been a real headscratcher for them.. And then the seventh day regimen? Well you get the point, God sees what we cannot see and knows the end from the beginning. I think at times He uses His instructions to test us to see if we will remain obedient even when we do not understand. Remain faithful and obedient; trust and obey.

Proverbs 3:5&6 "Trust in the LORD with all your heart

and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight."
